Welcome to FBI’s 3rd Annual Flyball Derby Days

Run for the Tennis Balls!

We are excited to host 54 teams from all over the Mid-Atlantic Region and Michigan!  The Seed Chart, Racing Schedule, Map of the Fairgrounds and directions has all been posted and can be found at www.flyball-fbi.com/tournament

We’ll be running the One Racing Schedule for 2 Rings format.
Teams will NOT need to pickup their C2 form to take to their assigned ring.  We will have runners to bring your C2 forms to the rings.  Teams will be assigned which ring they are racing in just prior to the end of the race ahead of yours. Please be ready to race at least two races ahead of your race as we’ll want to keep things moving quickly, esp. if two rings finish at once.

Scoring: All divisions will score 1 point per heat and 1 point per win (1/2 point for a tie and 0 for a loss).  Ties for tournament placement will be decided by:

  1. win/loss record on head to head between the two teams and then if still a tie,
  2. fastest time run when racing head to head between the two teams, and if there is still a tie,
  3. a run off – winner of 2 out of 3 heats is division winner.

There will be a cloth barricade between the two rings like last year and it will be tight. So we will need everyone to enter and exit the rings through the marked doors. The official’s tables will be against the walls, not in the middle and we will need everyone to wait to visit the tables between racing only.

Box Judges Needed!  At Carle Lee Dembeck’s brilliant suggestion from last year, we are asking that the box loader (or anyone else from your team) box judge the race BEFORE yours, rather than then race afterwards.  We will have a number of extra people around to Box Judge and Line Judge, but there will be times when we'll be spread pretty thin.  This will be a great help to us.  We will also be having a Worker’s Raffle and special prizes for the people/teams that do the best job in helping us with Box Judges.

Warm-ups will be 90 seconds the first race, 60 thereafter.

Tournament Schedule:

Friday: RVs and set-ups from 10am-8pm.

Saturday morning
Building opens at 6:30 am
Measuring of dogs will be at 7:15 am
Captains meeting at 7:45 am.
Racing starts at 8 am.

Sunday morning
Building opens at 7:00 am
Racing starts at 8:00 am

RVs: There are plenty of electrical hook-ups and a number of water and sewer hook-ups but please let us know in advance so we can plan accordingly.  The sewer and water hook ups will be first reserved first served, but if you don’t end up with these, there will be a place you can get water and dump your sewer.  The charge is $15 per night without hookup and $25 per night with hookup (please pay by check made out to FBI). When you get it, just check with someone from FBI and they will show you where you can park.  If you have any problems, call Terri on her cell phone: 703-850-8999.

Food on site: Gordon's Grill will be here for both breakfast and lunch starting at 7am.

Emergency Vet: Prince William Emergency Veterinary Clinic, 8610 Centreville Road , Manassas , VA 20110 , telephone: 703-361-8287 www.princewilliamevc.com

We will have the usual flip racing numbers, walkie talkies and we hope to have the same PA system as last year.

Raffle Table: Yes! We have a big raffle table and will be drawing the winners Sunday afternoon.

Worker's Raffle: Yes! Anyone who helps as a Box Judge or Line Judge will get an entry for the Worker's Raffle.

Jr. Handlers: Please look for the Jr. Handler's sign up list because Nikki, Joe an Abby will have a special surprise for you!

Cooling/Kiddie Pools: Yes, these will be available for the dogs to cool off.

Last but not least, we want to send a big thank you to 2 Lane Highway for volunteering to help us!  Their assistance will give us the ability to race our own dogs without missing a beat!  Thank you 2LH!

Happy and Safe Racing!
